Mississauga- Investigators from 12 Division Criminal Investigation Bureau have charged two individuals from Montreal with firearm-related offences.
On Saturday, December 2, 2023, at 1:53 a.m., investigators attended a motel in the area of The West Mall & Dundas Street in Mississauga for a robbery investigation, when two individuals were placed in custody. Later that morning, a Criminal Code search warrant was executed at the motel and a loaded Sig Sauer firearm was located & seized.
Evens Charlot, a 21-year-old man from Montreal, was arrested and charged with the following offences:
- Robbery
- Utter Threat to Cause Death of Bodily Harm
- Unauthorized Possession of Firearm
- Possession of a Loaded Prohibited or Restricted Firearm
- Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
- Carrying Concealed Weapon
- Breach of Probation Order
- Possession of a Firearm Contrary to Order x 2
At the time of arrest, Evens Charlo was on probation and has two weapon prohibition orders.
Melody Espinoza Vera, a 20-year-old woman from Montreal was arrested and charged with the following offences:
- Robbery
- Unauthorized Possession of Firearm
- Possession of a Loaded Prohibited or Restricted Firearm
- Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
- Carrying Concealed Weapon
- Unauthorized Possession of Prohibited or Restricted Weapon
Both parties were held for a bail hearing and attended the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton.
