A Brampton commercial truck driver is facing charges after police and border agents seized more than 233 kilograms of cocaine at a Niagara border crossing.
The man arrived at the Queenston-Lewiston Bridge port of entry in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario on Sept. 26, 2023 where he was referred for a secondary examination of his truck and trailer.
Canada Border patrol then searched the cargo and found 202 brick-shaped objects which tested positive for cocaine.
The driver was arrested at the scene by border agents and transferred into the custody of the RCMP.
In December, police charged a 35-year-old Sukhwinder Dhanju from Brampton, with importing and possession of a controlled substance.
The suspect was released with restrictions and is scheduled to appear in court on Feb. 2.
