Mississauga – Police Officers from 12 Division Uniform Patrol located a loaded firearm and laid numerous firearm-related charges after conducting a traffic stop in Mississauga.
On Friday December 1, 2023, at 7:54 a.m., patrol officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of Tomken Road and Derry Road in Mississauga. During the investigation, a loaded firearm was located inside the vehicle along with other replica firearms.
As a result of the investigation, Robert Broomer, a 34-year-old man from Kitchener, was arrested and charged with the following offences:
- Possession of a Firearm Contrary to Order x 2
- Possession a Loaded Restricted or Prohibited Firearm Without Licence
- Occupant of a Motor Vehicle Knowing There is a Firearm
- Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
- Possession of Property obtained by Crime
- Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose x 3
At the time of arrest, Robert Broomer was on a lifetime weapons prohibition order.
He was held for a bail hearing and attended the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton.
